Bike Description
Volt green (fluorescent yellow/green) Large sized Hybrid bike with non-standard saddle and rear mudguard, with front and rear lights and attachment for onguard brand D lock (the lock itself was on bike securing the rear wheel to frame at time of theft).Theft Description
The Trek hybrid was stolen from underneath the stairs on the ground floor of my block of flats in the Canton area of Cardiff overnight on 8th/9th March 2022. It had been borrowed by me from a friend to get to an appointment early on 9th March (after a previous bike theft in the autumn, my temporary second hand replacement is currently being overhauled by a bike mechanic). The bike was not secured to anything, but the rear wheel was D-locked to the frame. Another bike which lives under the stairs was untouched and remains there.
The block itself is secured by a Door Entry system, and whoever stole the bike either had a key fob, was buzzed in by someone in the block, or one of the two external doors had failed to shut properly. Whether the thieves knew what they were looking for, or if it was a totally opportunistic venture, I don’t know.
Happy to offer a £100 reward to anyone with information which leads to the bike's return.
Recovery Description
Police identified the bike from the serial number. Always note your frame/serial number, kids!
