Recovery Description

Guy bought the bike on Gumtree, realised it was too good a deal to be true, eventually he was pointed to stolen-bikes.co.uk and contacted us - I went out to collect it. We hadn't recorded the frame number before the bike was stolen, our bike shop gave me what they told me was the frame number of this bike, turns out they got it wrong which did not help the recovery! The bike was definitely ours - unusual customisations and very distinctive scuff marks from a crash. The thief had removed the rack and broken mudguards, but included the rack and (a different pair of) guards in the sale. Very pleased to get it back, it was only a few months old and we're looking forward to a bike touring holiday this summer! Will file a report to the police now, not too hopeful as the buyer couldn't contact the thief after he bought it.
