Theft Description
2 bikes were locked in the corner of Greenwich market, with the same lock. In front of Paul Rhodes Bakery. When we came back after maximum 2 hours, the lock was cut and Brompton bike was stolen, leaving the second folding bike alone by the fence. We checked with the bakery manager CCTV, she said she only can see when we arrived and left the place, but not the theft.Recovery Description
One month after the bike was stolen, we saw it for sale on eBay. We contacted the seller (who only sells preowned Brompton articles with 100% positive feedback) and we arranged to view the bike. We showed him interest in buying the bike and checked that it was ours - we took all the evidence to prove the ownership. After that, we left the place and called the police. After many attempts of getting help from the police with zero support from the agents, we decided to go back alone and tell the seller that the bike was ours, we showed him proof of receipts and serial numbers and took the bike with us. The seller was not surprised when we told him and made no resistance to keep the bike, it seems it is a normal practice for him. He didn't look like a thief, but he was selling my stolen bikes. Advise: Don't expect the police to help you. Don't trust the person even if he doesn't look like a thief. He may be selling other's people stolen bikes.
