Bike Description

Boardman CX Comp with flat 'commuter' pedals, replaced Deda handlebar stem 90mm, Pannier rack, two drinks bottle holders, 'anti-theft skewers', and Master lock. White specks of gloss paint all over bottom of frame and wheels. Security marked by the police, with sticker plus Prudential Ride 100 number sticker on frame.

Theft Description

The bike was locked to an iron drainpipe, which was attached to the wall of the Fir Tree pub, Iffley Rd, Oxford. I checked that the bike was ok at 7.30pm, and it was still there. But by 11pm, it had been taken. The drainpipe had been broken, pulled off the wall bracket, and the bottom part of the drain snapped off completely. It looked as though they had simply pulled the locked bike off the drainpipe, without removing either of the locks.  There was no CCTV camera in the area, and no witnesses. The bike is police-stamped with my old postcode (W2 2SB), and has a sticker to warn potential thieves of this fact. I added anti-theft spindles to both wheels, the saddle is not quick-release.
