Theft Description

Stills from CCTV are attached. The offenders were both male, probably in mid to late teens. Both were wearing tracksuit bottoms and trainers. One of the thieves ('Liam Gallagher wannabe') looks to have been wearing a dark blue adidas sweater with lighter blue adidas stripes on sleeves and white adidas trainers. The other thief was wearing a jacket over a white top and also appears to have worn adidas trainers. One of the thieves seems to have short lighter hair and the other (the Liam Gallagher wannabe) with quite distinctive short black hair that has grown out around the sides - he also appears quite skinny (his clothes look baggy on him), seems to have a pointed nose and walks in a distinctive way (a bit like a Liam Gallagher swagger). The bike was kept in a bicycle compound/cage at my work premises in the West End/Dean Village area of Edinburgh. The door to the compound is secured by a mechanical code lock. It appears entry was gained by physically forcing the lock through (possibly hit with a hammer?). The bicycle was secured inside the compound by being locked (flexible metal bike lock with yellow plastic coating) to a metal rail which was bolted to the floor. The lock was either cut or smashed open by the offender to facilitate removing the bike (CCTV shows they may have used a shovel during the crime). There was one other bike stolen in the same theft (a Grand Canyon 5.9 W). CCTV shows that the offenders arrived by bike and they actually left these at the scene. It is possible that these are also stolen. The bikes left at the scene were a large-framed blue Carlton touring bicycle with a rear pannier rack and a klickfix bracket for a handlebar bag, and a small - medium-framed black (with blue and white graphics) Boardman MX Sport hybrid bicycle.
