Bike Description
Orbea Carpe 15 (large) Bright blue frame with fluorescent yellow "ORBEA" on it. It is a hybrid bike with the mudguards, pannier, and lights firmly attached. The rear wheel is pink and both tyres have a reflective stripe. The bike is brand new and in very good condition. However, I expect there may now be a few scratches to the frame due to the theft. uploaded image of the bike from the shop as it is a better photo than I took when I bought it.Theft Description
The bolts securing the metal bike stand to the floor were cut through and the stand was ripped from the floor. The metal stand was checked to be secure before locking to it. I assume the lock was then slipped under the metal stand and was still attached to the bike when it was taken. This happened at the Cambridge Train Station cycle storage between 6pm-1am on the evening of 31/08/2022.Recovery Description
Stolen Bikes in Cambridge Facebook page found it! A helpful samaritan saw a group of people walking with my bike and approached them after seeing my post. They surrendered the bike pretty easily! The lock has zero damage and was still locked to the frame. This confirms they ripped the bike stand from the concrete floor to steal the bike. A few small chips to the frame but I am just happy it is home. I have the Kryptonite New York lock and am so happy to have spent the money on it. I also registered for the anti-theft protection through Kryptonite and would recommend this!! The lock stood up to the thieves this time but I am confident it is because of the lock that it wasn't sold on to another buyer.
