Bike Description

It’s a Japanese mamachari. It’s an upright women’s town bike designed for carrying children. Non electric. It has Japanese writing / characters in various places on the bike including the gear hub. Three gears. It has a brown saddle. The handle bars are quite distinctive as they bend back and wrap around the basket. It has a plastic basket on the front that can be converted into a child’s seat. The basket says ‘Bridgestone’ on the front. It has a large silver bell on the left handlebar. It has a heavy glossy black rack on the rear with a Qibbel Junior bike seat for carrying an 8 year old on it. It has foot rests for the child. It has a kick-stand at the back with a lock that you can flip. It has an integral rear wheel lock with a small silver key on a black thread. It has a dynamo light on the front of the bike that you can flick on and off. There is a twist lock under the handlebars so that you can make the bike fixed and still when you are stationary. The rear brake is a drum brake which says ‘Dinex. Servo Brake System. Bridgestone Cycle’ on it. The gears are enclosed and covered over. The front wheel is 24 inches and the rear wheel is 26 inches. It’s a vintage bike that is approx 20-30 years old.

Theft Description

I left it in the bike racks on platform 1 at Stapleton Road train station at 8.18am. It was unlocked. When I returned at 9.20am it had gone. I walked around and looked for it. I found both mine and my child’s bike helmets discarded on the pavement on nearby Belmont street. There is open drug dealing and drug taking in the grassy patch with benches between Belmont Street and St Mark’s Grove so presumably that’s where it went.
