Recovery Description

My bike was stolen from outside my office a week later I went to Sclater St just off Brick Lane (thanks to Stolen-Bikes for the tip!). There were some guys selling about 10 bikes on the street outside the carpark near Cygnet St and I immediately saw my bike from a distance - it helps to have a distinctive colour. I made sure not to go up to it and I immediately called the police. The police took an hour to get there (despite this weekly market being touted as a key place for stolen bikes to be sold) and I had to sit on the opposite side of the road keeping an eye on my bike and hoping noone would try and buy it nor become suspicious of me. I had my frame number to hand so when the police arrived I could immediately prove it was mine. The guy selling the bike showed a screenshot of him looking the frame number up on a database of stolen bikes - he'd apparently written the frame number down wrong (oldest trick in the book or genuine mistake...). All in all I was incredibly lucky. My tip is persevere on your own - obsessively check Gumtree, pester the police (they closed my case after 6 hours having not watched the CCTV so I put the key footage on a CD and delivered to the police office) and go down to Scalter St on a Sunday with your frame number to hand. Can't thank John Moss at Stolen Bikes enough for the tips! Keep up the good work!!
