Blue frame with white reflective tape all of top tube seat post has a bit of rust at top non standard smaller crank/chain ring fitted (one hole) non standard firm elastomer fitted to rear hinge yellow plastic frame hinge clamp lever (I know) Brooks imperial (one with the hole in) saddle black rusting rivets converted to low rise handlebar (very twitchy) aluminium black fitted with combined comfort grips and bar ends converted with short Halfords v brake levers black (very short pull) converted with added Brompton rear rack (rear mudguard has tapped over hole for removed non rack wheel) eeze wheels fitted to rack (rear axle bolts protrude and rattle annoyingly) nearside rack stay broken (by a Mercedes driver) fixed with clear zip tie clear zip tie fitted to luggage clip black zip tie fitted to hold cables to frame which otherwise rub chainring black touring bag mesh repaired with staples and tape Containing tools in thomson bag standard rear bag garmin mount front and rear led lightsTheft Description
Bit rambly but hey ho Two youths in dark clothing one with grey joggers with hoods and balaclavas both on one lime hire bike approached my partner and I from the opposite direction on the lit path in the middle of millfields park having circled round from the canal near the princess of Wales pub where they must have first spotted us I could hear the distinctive noise from the hire bike near the pub and saw them on the intersecting path moving quickly getting ahead of us before they turned into the path we were on (if I see that again things might be different) it’s the larger park where there’s an X of paths well lit and reasonably frequented even at night by cyclists joggers and dog walkers One youth jumped off and approached me with his hand in his pocket pretending to have a knife threatening to kill me while the other deliberately crashed the hire bike into my partner on her Brompton behind me and tried to pull her bike from her but she held on and shouted and at some point he punched her hard in the side of the face (brave of him) but she hung on But apparently I was also hit in the head with something and knocked unconscious my partner says they took my bike while I was on the ground and both ran off towards chatsworth road with the one Brompton some nearby members of the public (one single male and a separate male with two teenagers saw and approached to offer us help but didn’t see the criminals to chase them) my partner called 999 and a patrol car blue lights with three officers attended within 3 mins by which time we had walked to the edge of the park the officers said they have cctv on the park and nearby road junctions they took the details told us to contact them with the serial number and said they would cruise the area looking for the culprits (they said they were confident on spotting them maybe to make us feel better) saying they had recently received a phone call from the public describing suspicious youths in the area riding on a hire bike asking if we made that call we said no i know £100 reward isn’t much for a bike the kids can get £300-500 cash for from the wrong type of bike trader (many of them) but it’s a reasonable amount to me at the mo and you would get me best wishes
