Bike Description

Blackmint (my bike’s name) is special, an extension of myself — chummy yet fierce. She may look cute but she can conquer all roads. It took us a year to build her, from long queues at Master Ave Maldea’s shop, to choosing her bike parts, to customizing her frame bag, all from the Philippines. She was with me from the Philippines, to Dubai, to London.   Bike description: Custom built frame from Ave Maldea (bike frame builder from the Philippines), fit for 5’4” height. It has a black loop bar (also custom made in the Philippines) and Toseek carbon fork. These are her specs:
  • Frame: Custom-made Hi-tensile steel; touring geometry
  • Handlebar: Custom made loop bar
  • Groupset: Shimano Deore M4120
  • Brake set: Shimano MT200
  • Hubs: Shimano non-series
  • Stem: Controltech -17
  • Headset: FSA MX
  • Rims: Mavic cosmic
  • Tires: Maxxis Crossmark II 27.5 (front 2.1; rear 1.9)
  • Rear rack: Decathlon lightweight
  • Saddle: unbranded brown (from my old bike)

Theft Description

Blackmint (my bike's name) was stolen from our building. A thick steel chain and a sturdy u-lock did not deter the determined thief who took advantage of the crazy winds brought by the recent storm. They probably cut the chain and put the bike inside a van since the U-lock (locked to the rear tire and the frames) is so thick and takes a while to cut them. No wonder, they ended up 7 miles away so quickly.
