Bike Description

Trek Madone 5.1 carbon race bike in black with a subtle metallic effect. The 'Trek' logo features as a large silver outline transfer on the downtube. The frame is detailed with yellow and silver trim and darts. Frame number is WTU251T083C - Located under the down tube in the bottom bracket area. There is what looks to be a batch number:- DGB60090072 under the seat cluster. The carbon seat post slides over the frames seat mast. There is an ongoing carbon repair under the right chainstay as a result of the carbon de-laminating. There is another carbon repair in progress on the seat tube where the upper bottle cage boss has come out of the frame. This ongoing repair means there is no seat tube bottle cage fitted. There is a Elite bottle cage with a Hoy bidon, which has a blue lid on the downtube.   The frame is fitted with a triple Ultegra 6800 silver groupset including pedals and calliper brakes. The chainrings are grey against the silver of the cranks. The STI leavers are the older type, where the gear cables are exposed and come from the inner face of the STI shifters - first into cable adjusters, the going to cable stops on the downtube. All the cables are black. The wheels are Ultegra 6700 tubeless ready with aluminium rims and grey hubs. The 'Ultegra' logo features prominently on the silver grey anodised rims in stark white. The rims also feature white 'dart' decals. Handlebars are 3T Ergo Pro alloy in black with white text and logo. The bartape is black and unfinished at the bar ends. The tape is not wrapped perfectly symmetrically on each side. The bar end plugs are Bontrager. The saddle is a beige Charge. Under the saddle is a white access tag for a lockup. There is an 'original' short black ass-saver fitted. The front tyre is a Mavic 23mm, which has seen plenty of use and is at end of life. The rear tyre is a 25mm Shwalbe One 'evolution', which is as new. The brake pads are Aztek and are coming to end of life. The lower jockey wheel on the rear derailleur is Campag, used as a temporary measure whilst a replacement Ultegra jockey wheel is being sourced. The chain is Ultegra, with a KMC quick link. There is a cat-eye fitting for a front light and a cat-eye rear light, which is fitted to the right side seat stay.

Theft Description

Taken from the bike racks outside the entrance to Sainsbury's, Canal Way near Ladbroke Grove between 17:07 and 17:20. The bike was locked when I went into the store. Both the bike and lock were gone when I returned.

Recovery Description

Receive call from police - they have recovered bike 'in good condition'. It was in a flat which the police entered as part of another investigation. The bike looked to be out of place. They checked the stolen reports and found the matching frame number and called. I arranged collection From a central London police station. I needed to make a further statement and complete other formalities after which the was returned. Inrodenot home having only lost a water bottle and the lock. Providing the frame number and intimate description details to the police was key to the recovery.
