Bike Description

Specialized Sirrus 2018 Ladies' (Drop Bar) bike. Stolen from the University of Exeter on Wednesday 21st November 2018. Medium frame size. Purple colour with bluey/green Specialized branding on the size. The bike had cat's eyes lights mounted on the front and rear of the bike. There was also a mount for a BrightSide side light on the frame of the bike. Reflective spoke covers were attached the every other of the wheel spokes. The bike had mud guards. There are scratches of blue paint on the front bars from where the bike has been locked up against a bike rack. The left hand side pedal is slightly scuffed from having hit a kerb the other night.

Theft Description

The bike was stolen at some point on Wednesday 21st November 2018 from the University of Exeter campus. It was locked up on the bike racks to the side of the Digital Humanities Lab outside Queens Building. The bike was locked up using a chunky, red, combination lock. Looks as though the thieves cut through the lock so likely used some serious bolt cutters.   They also took my multi-coloured, Decathlon helmet which has my name and partner's phone number inside an emergency contacts tab stuck to the outside.

Recovery Description

Miraculously and with an enormous thanks to Claire and her husband, my bike was recovered. It was discovered dumped, Claire googled stolen bikes in Exeter and my bike came up in the google search through this website. When Claire checked the description (including some blue scuffs on the frame) and the frame number, the two matched! When the police and council didn't want to know, she contacted me online and reunited us :) Thanks to Claire for persevering with tracking me down, taking my bike in and looking after it, and reuniting us. I can't believe we're back together!
