Recovery Description

I found my bike on Facebook Marketplace. It’s a distinctive bike, and still had the race number sticker on it, from the last race I did, so I informed the police. I was told that they didn’t have staffing to do anything, but if I was able to recover it safely, I should get phone them straight away. I got a friend to contact the seller and I arranged to meet them on the pretence of buying the bike.The seller wasn’t a thief, but a “trader” - fully aware or wilfully ignorant of the source of his stock. My parents came in their estate car and parked just out of sight. I handed the seller a decoy rucksack to hold while I “tested the bike out”. I cycled to the boot of the car and jumped in with the bike and covered myself and my bike over with a black bed sheet. My parents drove away looking like an old couple doing their weekly shop. We drove to the police station and they were thrilled.
