Bike Description

Large framed road bike with straight handle-bars, light blue in colour. Some new components including rear wheel made by Mavic and new chainset and derailleur.  Has a vintage Pletscher luggage rear rack.  The handle-bars have bar-ends. The bike has new black mudguards and a black racing saddle.

Theft Description

I left my bicycle at the purpose-built cycle shed at Fareham Railway Station at 10:00 on the 21st October and returned at 19:45 to find my bike gone and the combination lock broken apart. It was locked to a rack within the shed.  There is a CCTV camera in operation there and I later spoke to a member of railway staff, who witnessed the theft.  British Transport Police are investigating the theft of my my bike and other cycle thefts from the station.

Recovery Description

Bike was found locked up in the town centre not far from where it was stolen. British Transport Police were very helpful in their communications but Hampshire Police were not as forthcoming and suggested that I leave it to BTP to deal with. Hampshire Police said that because I had not registered the bike or made a note of the frame number, it was difficult proving that I was the actual owner. Fortunately, it is now safely back in my possession and mainly in good condition. I will now register any bike in future with Bike Register: https://www.bikeregister.com/?gclid=CjwKCAiAmO3gBRBBEiwA8d0Q4uHf-oSbBDVh95g1308A5gCgrM9JbkUn2IRgcE74-uHbA0iTZRYxoBoCAOsQAvD_BwE
