Bike Description

Dutch made bike, 'Alba Levanta 8' model. Tall aluminium frame, smooth welded, 58-62cm, dark grey with red text. Dynamo LED lights, Shimano 8 speed hub gears, belt drive. Rocker disk brakes. Integrated brake lines (white and red), integrated lock and stand. Shock absorber forks, white. Shock absorber 'Selle Royal' saddle. Rear rack with white, red and blue bungies. A distinctive bike, in excellent condition.

Theft Description

The bike (and one other) was stolen from a locked garage on our driveway in Red House, Sunderland while we were on holiday. Nothing else was taken or disturbed. The lock and handle had been cut out of the door and there was very little visible damage to the door. Our house-sitter didn't notice anything. We believe it was a planned burglary and not a crime of opportunity.

Recovery Description

We were really blessed that someone found the bike under a hedge and decided to Google it thinking it looked like a decent bike. Found this ad and contacted us. We'd shared the ad widely and got a load of cycling mates to also get the word out too. I think it helped that the Alba bike was distinctive and unusual. Not having a note of my frame number and my Revolution courier bike being more normal meant I a) couldn't post here and b) we're very unlikely to get that one back as it's likely sold on. Good to know there are decent folk around though!
