Bike Description

It's a few years old, front and rear mudguards, a rack on the back, a kick stand and a mount for a mini kryptonite lock which was present but not in use.

Theft Description

The bike was foolishly left unlocked for a short time and was taken from Church Square in Leighton Buzzard. It must have been taken down through the park as we found its pannier dumped in the stream there.

Recovery Description

This is my wife's bike. She spotted someone riding it and chased him and forced him to stop. He claimed to have bought it from someone in the park in Leighton Buzzard for £20. The rack (which is custom to fit that bike) had been removed. The genius had replaced the front fork with a suspension fork, and removed the front brake as it wouldn't work with that fork. The handlebar, stem and front wheel have all been changed, and the bottle cage is gone. The guy was not apprehended - my wife was a bit flustered and didn't call the police and no one else who saw the incident did so. Replacement parts from Islabikes will be about £200.
