Bike Description
The bike is a 1957 vintage Uppadine 'Road Track 25' 531 track frame with rear dropouts and pencil thin rear stays. The frame is white with mauve horizontal stripes on the seat tube, and mauve head tube. It has black bluemells mudguards, an early model flight titanium saddle, an early 90's Durace seat post, Stronglite 49D chainset with more recent Mavic and Fir rims on steel rear and Campag front hubs. It also had 5 lights and a compressed air horn. The bike is looking a little worse for wear but since I have owned it and used it in various different forms, from time trailing to commuting for over 25 years, it is of great sentimental value.Theft Description
I had the horrible experience of having my much cherished fixed wheel racing bike stolen from Stoneygate, Leicester on 7th April between 7:00pm - 9:30pm. The bike is looking a little worse for wear but since I have owned it and used it in various different forms, from time trailing to commuting for over 25 years, it is of great sentimental value. The theft has been reported to the Police. If you see or hear of a bike that fits this description and picture please get in touch. Thanks for reading and please forward on to any other cycling enthusiasts you know. Update on 12-05-2016 5 weeks since my bike was stolen I had a positive lead today (Thursday 12th May). A man tried to sell it to a shop in the city center in Leicester between 4 and 5pm yesterday (Wednesday 11th May) for £30!! The bike had been painted very crudely with white emulsion paint including the black mudguards and the plastic air bottle for the air horn presumably to disguise it's identity. The man was white, about 6ft 2 inches tall, in his mid 30s, wearing a black track suit and baseball cap. He had a stubbly appearance and the shop assistant said (from his previous work as a prison officer) that he recognised the smell of cannabis about him. As soon as the shop assistant suggested to him that it looked like the bike was stolen, the man promptly left. I've updated the police but please if you could keep lookout for it...
