Bike Description

Gents town bike. Sturmey Archer 3 speed. Owned from new in 1993. 23.5 inch frame, black seat, new black handlebar grips, black brake cables (held onto crossbar with white tape), large new black bell mounted left handlebar. Had a black metal mesh front basket held on with two mismatched bolts and washers thru base. Non-original rear mudguard (replacement in black plastic, Dirt Monkey brand). Rear wheel has been rebuilt in last few weeks and now has an aluminium rim. Has kick-stand and a redundant nylon bracket for large old-style Ever Ready rear lamp held on with rusted bolts. Bike is security-coded to an IP postcode on bottom bracket - owner can still be contacted via that address. Has a very faded once-fluorescent triangular Coded Cycle sticker low on frame and Sturmey Archer sticker on the gear change is also very faded. At time of theft also had a tall rectangular wire basket wired onto rear luggage carrier (original carrier to bike, burgundy also, carrier's bungees black and perished). This basket was held onto carrier with green garden wire, and was flaking white plastic coating over metal. Rear basket had a section of board on back, covered with bright blue gaffer tape, with a reflector mounted on it. Small mounting bracket for rear light was mounted on basket just below blue bit, matching mounting bracket for front light was mounted on right handlebar. Bike also has a strange support for front basket, on right hand side (looking from the saddle) which curves outwards towards the road. Tyres and tubes in good conditon with new valves. Handlebar grips have been replaced in last few weeks and one on left was put on with too much washing-up liquid and slides around slightly.

Theft Description

Bike was left for 3-5 minutes outside a residential property in central Norwich - padlock not fully engaged by accident and thief just happened to be passing by.
