Recovery Description

So... I had a message from a friend saying "is this yours" with a picture of the bike. He had seen it on a Facebook selling page. After a brief chat the police were called by me to update the info on the case. Said case had been closed according to them. I got a new case opened and attached to the original. After a few messages with the seller I aquired the relevant info from him by posing as a potential buyer. I was told he also had a second buyer coming to look at the bike. I then called the police back and updated them with the address details and said I will be going there in 20 mins time. They agreed to send a officer to the address and told me to wait for them to call me and say they have arrived there so that I can then come and identify my bike. After waiting for 20 mins for the police I saw 2 guys come out with my bike from a house and start looking it over. At this point I said screw it and walked over to speak with the guys. I identified the seller and lent on the bars of my bike. I then told the guy it was my bike that had been stolen and he had two options. 1. I walk away with the bike and I will tell the police not to bother showing up now. Or option 2. (Didn't explain that. Left it for him to work it out) The other guy who was looking to buy it when I showed up wisely left. I left with my bike and some details of the seller he had purchased it off some 3 weeks previously. Now. While I know it worked now I did walk into a unknown situation with only the knowledge that police knew I was waiting around the corner. Always inform the police even if it is to say you're going to be retrieving the bike yourself as from my experience they were atleast some help.
