Bike Description
Silver Ammaco Oman bike, mens. Most of the stickers have been removed from the frame except on the back. It has Schwalbe Marathon tyres (700c, 35c). The chain guard has been removed. It has a half size grip on the right side where I replaced a grip shifter with trigger shifter. The rear wheel is quick release aluminum and the front is a double walled wheel. It has 21 gears with Shimano gearset. The seat was replaced with an apollo one. There is a reflector on the front and light mount on the back.Theft Description
This was locked on Queen Street Colchester during the Big Sunday festival. I was away from the bike for two hours, there were many people around.Recovery Description
Spotted someone riding my bike on lunch break. I took a photograph and confronted them (not recommended but I was incredulous). They would not return the bike so I called 101. The suspect immediately fled the scene and I was not comfortable running after them. 101 logged it and closed the incident immediately passing it to another department. 101 advised to call 999 if I spotted them again. In the mean time I shared the photo with local organisations in the hopes they would help me locate this person. A week later I spotted them and called 999. I followed at a safe distance giving directions to 999. Police arrived in minutes. Suspect's had a story of buying it days after it was stolen. CCTV showed someone of a similar description in the area but not a clear image. They were fined the next day in court. I won't be using a cable lock again.
